(transitive verb) To surprise (and usually harm) someone by coming either at an unexpected time or from an unexpected direction. (NOTE: also "blind-side")

EXAMPLE: The sudden, tragic death of our company抯 energetic young president blindsided everyone and has left our company without strong leadership.
