New Audi A6 e-tron

Most of Audi’s electric cars so far have been SUVs, but the new A6 e-tron concept you see here shows it’ll also launch a new electric saloon as an alternative to the Tesla Model S and Mercedes EQE.

The A6 e-tron should retain the concept’s sleek styling and 435 miles of range when it goes on sale in 2023.

New Audi Q6 e-tron

Expect to see the Q6 e-tron looking something quite like this when it arrives in 2023

If the Q4 e-tron is a shade too small for you, then the Audi Q6 e-tron could be just the thing. Official details are still thin on the ground, but the Q6 e-tron’s extra size means it’ll likely have larger batteries giving it closer to 400 miles of range.

It won’t be long until all is revealed – Audi says the Q6 e-tron is going into production in 2022.

New BMW i5

When the new BMW 5 Series is revealed in 2022 it will be available for the first time as a fully electric car.

Badged the i5, it’s expected to share its tech with the BMW iX3 and i4 Gran Coupe. It should have around 400 miles of range to meet Audi’s upcoming A6 e-tron head-on.

New BYD Atto 3

The new Atto 3 is BYD’s first step into the UK market. It’s a small electric SUV, similar to the MG ZS EV and Volkswagen ID4 and it may start from £30,000. That would make it one of the cheapest electric SUVs on sale.

It has a single motor providing 204hp to the front wheels and has a claimed range of around 261 miles. Expect it to go on sale by the end of the year.

New Cupra Tavascan

One of the star cars at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Cupra Tavascan concept car, has now been greenlit for production.

It’s still some way off (Cupra says it won’t go on sale until around 2024), though it’s promised the Tavascan will look very similar to the design study that previewed it. That means it should be striking to look at inside and out, have a punchy electric drivetrain and have around 300 miles of range.

Fiat Centoventi (New Panda)

Fiat has plans to launch an all-new electric compact model in 2022, sharing the platform used by the new 500e but with a bigger body and more cabin and luggage space.

Will Fiat also launch it with battery packs that can be added to on-demand for longer journeys? And will it be called Panda? Watch this space…

New Hyundai Ioniq 6

When Hyundai revealed the Prophecy concept last year, it was predicted that the production version would be much more toned down. Well the Ioniq 6 has been revealed, and it’s proven that theory wrong.

It looks almost exactly the same as the Prophecy, and has up to 379-miles of claimed range. Watch the video to find out Mat’s thoughts on this new EV saloon.

New Hyundai Ioniq 7

The Hyundai Seven concept gave us a preview of what the new Ioniq 7 may look like when it goes into production in 2024. The new large SUV is predicted to have 300 miles of range, dual motors and radical new self-driving technology.
Expect the concept’s wild design to be reined in slightly when the finished car arrives in showrooms before 2025.

New Jeep Avenger

Jeep is finally entering the pure EV game with the new Avenger. It’s a dinky SUV (a touch smaller than the current Jeep Renegade) with front-wheel-drive and a range of 250 miles.

Jeep also recently revealed the Avenger 4×4 concept, with better off-road ability. It’s not known if this will make production though. You can expect the normal Jeep Avenger to go on sale by November this year, with prices likely to start at around £35,000.

New Kia EV9

Kia has revealed a concept version of the new EV9 large SUV. It offers an electric alternative to the Sorento and it could potentially borrow electric components from the smaller EV6. This would mean a 77.4 kWh battery giving up to 300 miles of range, along with dual motors.

The concept (above) looks very different from today’s Kia range, with bold angles and plenty of complex details. However, you can expect the production version to look a little more subtle.

New Lotus Eletre

You may not expect a manufacturer renowned for its lightweight two seaters to come out with an electric luxury SUV, but that hasn’t stopped Lotus making the Eletre.

It has dual motors with 600hp, and can accelerate from 0-60 in under three seconds. Let Mat talk you through this new SUV in the walkaround video above.

New Mercedes EQG

Mercedes has filed a trademark for the EQG name, and going by the rest of its EV range, this means it’s considering an electric version of the G-Class off-roader. It’s likely to use the technology from the EQS underneath, but with tweaks to make it better for off-roading, plus a distinctive look that will move the G-Class style on but also look back at the classic models – as this exclusive rendering shows.

It should have around 400 miles of range and may be revealed in 2022.

New Polestar Precept

The Polestar Precept is a sporty-looking four-door coupe, similar to the Porsche Taycan.

The Polestar Precept was originally intended to show how new Polestar cars would look rather than pointing to one specific model, but the reaction to the concept car was so good that the brand has decided to launch a production version.

It’s set to be called the Polestar 5 and may offer around 310 miles of range when it officially breaks cover in 2024.

New Polestar 6

The new Polestar 6 is the first sports car from the Swedish firm, and it was first unveiled as the O2 concept earlier this year.

It’s a sleek new roadster with a clever folding metal roof, sleek styling, and Polestar is aiming to get 884hp from it as well.

New Porsche Macan EV

A new version of the Porsche Macan SUV is on the way and it’ll use electric motors rather than petrol or diesel engines. Official teaser images show the car will likely use a similar design to the current Macan, but will take on the BMW iX3 and Mercedes EQC when it arrives in 2023.

Expect impressive range – perhaps 400 miles – and excellent rapid charging capability. It’s possible this car will share tech with the Audi A6 e-tron.

New Renault 4EVER Trophy concept

The original Renault 4 was a bit of a cult classic, and the new Renault 4EVER Trophy concept tries to recapture the essence of that car.

It’s a small electric SUV, a similar size to the Renault Captur, and features chunky off-road styling and funky design details. It may just be a concept for now, but it may be one of the new electric cars Renault has promised to deliver by 2025.

New Renault 5

Already seen in concept form, Renault has promised that the all-electric revival of the 5 badge will go into production in 2022, and it should have a decent range thanks to sharing underpinnings with the Renault Zoe.

Better yet, there’s a sporty Alpine version to follow. Hopefully it looks as good as the concept…

New Skoda Vision 7S

The Vision S concept is a bold visualisation of what a future seven-seater electric Skoda SUV may look like. It’ll be an alternative to cars like the forthcoming Kia EV9.

It has an 89 kWh battery with 373 miles of range, a futuristic interior and distinctive styling, although it’ll probably be toned down when it makes production.

New Smart EV SUV

Smart has announced its first ever electric SUV, the #1. It’ll be available to order from January next year, has 273 miles of range and will even be available as a sporty Brabus model.

This will have 428hp and a more aggressive body kit, as well as unique colour options. Expect non-Brabus versions to cost around £35,000.

New Volkswagen ID3 Cabriolet

This official teaser image shows you what to expect from a new ID3 Cabriolet

Volkswagen has teased images of a new convertible ID3 Cabriolet electric car. If this EV soft-top reaches production, expect it to come with a similar range of battery and motor options as the standard hard-top ID3.

New Volvo EX90

The Volvo EX90 is a new electric luxury SUV for the firm, and it puts a big emphasis on safety. The cabin features cameras with eye tracking software to monitor the driver and make sure they’re paying attention, and it can even detect children or pets who may have been left behind.

It’s also made using plenty of recycled materials, in fact 50kg of recycled plastic is used in the cabin. The EX90 will be officially revealed on the 9th November 2022.

New Audi A4

The new Audi A4 has been spotted testing a few times this year, and there may even be a fully electric E-Tron version on the way later on.

You’ll still be able to get a range of petrol and diesel engines, and the hot RS4 will also make a comeback. Expect to see this new A4 make its debut early next year, with the E-Tron version coming out sometime after that.

New Dacia Bigster

Ignore the silly name, Dacia is deadly serious about making bigger cars, and this new large SUV (previewed by a rugged-looking concept) is its rival to the likes of the Land Rover Defender and Jeep Wrangler. Only much, much cheaper than either of those when it arrives in 2022.

New Honda Civic Type R

The latest iteration of the Honda Civic Type R looks better than ever, has more power and torque than before and is already breaking lap records.

It’s also one of the last high-performance hot hatches to get a manual gearbox. Check out the video for the low-down on this new Type R.

New Maserati Gran Turismo

In a world of Luxury SUVs, you may be pleased to hear that Maserati has recently pulled the covers off the new Gran Turismo coupe.

This gorgeous two-door is available with a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 with 490hp, or you can even have a fully electric version. That car uses three motors and has a whopping 761hp.

New Mercedes CLE

Mercedes won’t be making coupe or cabriolet versions of the new C-Class or E-Class as they have done before, instead they’re both being replaced by the new Mercedes CLE.

This sleek new two-door has been spotted testing in soft-top form, and it looks as though it’ll get similar styling treatment to the Mercedes CLA. A hot AMG version is also expected to make an appearance.

New Mercedes E-Class

The new Mercedes E-Class has been spotted testing a few times in both saloon and estate guise. It’ll get styling inspired by the current S-Class, as well as a raft of new technology.

You’ll still be able to get a range of petrol and diesel models, and a new plug-in hybrid model will also be available. This may share parts with the recently revealed Mercedes GLC, meaning an all-electric range of around 70 miles. Expect to see this new E-Class revealed in 2023.

New Mercedes-AMG S63

Mercedes’ latest hotrod limo will add hybrid assistance to its twin-turbo, 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine. The electric motor will reportedly produce 136hp, giving a total output of over 700hp.

Advanced four-wheel-drive should make this new S63 feel sportier than ever to drive, despite weighing well over two tonnes. As ever, the interior will be extremely luxurious and bursting with gadgets. Expect to pay at least £125,000 for one.

New Peugeot 408

Coupe SUVs are becoming more popular, and Peugeot is jumping on this bandwagon with the new 408.

It’s certainly striking to look at thanks to all the sharp creases and angles, and it’ll be available as a plug-in hybrid when it goes on sale early next year. An all electric version will also follow later on.
