Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence Reddit

This sunscreen is amazing. Best I’ve tried yet.

Anyone know where I can buy watery essence in the US? Amazon is full of fakes and reviews saying that the formula has changed for the worse.

level 2

I never buy cosmetics from Amazon anymore, too many fakes. Wish this was easier to track down in the US :(

I like it and it is one I tend to go back to after trying others. I used it on my whole body last week at the pool as a last resort cream and didn't get burned.

I live in a sub-tropical/humid climate and have combo skin with dry patches.

Amazing! Just got it 2 weeks and its my new HG. I have oily acne prone skin and I was worried it would be too dewy but nope its perfect. It has a slight dew to it but its very natural and nothing like other sunscreens. Also extremely lightweight and easy to apply. Works beautifully under makeup too. I will say that if you're sensitive to alcohol or fragrance be careful becaus some of them have alcohol and fragrance, if not then go for it!!

level 1

It's a very shiny and glowy sunscreen for oily skin in humid tropical country.

I prefer the Biore Athlizm Essence instead, less shiny and dries faster.

level 2

i have extremelyyyyy dry skin,,, so i guess this would suit me? +i live in india so it’s like super hot here.. sooo..? idkkkk

Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence is also good for dry/normal skin when the humidity hits over 80-90%. When the air is that dense, every skin type needs support. Drawing water particles into skin layers, but at the same time being light.

Biore Athlizm is even lighter with a stronger protection because it’s made for sports and harsh environmental conditions like a heavy sunlight and high humidity during a subtropical climate summer.

On stylevana you can buy one get one free for a limited time. Copped this deal today, if I love it they have a 10 pack I’ll probably end up buying it 🤣

level 1

Looking to get this. Is this sunscreen suitable for both face and skin?

level 1

How do i know which one to get off Amazon?!!

level 1

It irritated the skin on my neck, maybe due to citrus fragrance so I gave it away to a friend

level 2

It does not have citrus fragrances.

EDIT: As of December 5, the discontinuation notice has been removed and the entire Aqua Rich line seems to have been repackaged. The product is also no longer on the discontinued products page, and it looks like Kao made a mistake while updating their website, so please disregard this entire post. (More info here.)

According to the official product catalogue (Japanese/English),* Kao will no longer be making new batches of Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence as of November 27, 2022. As with all discontinuations, this just means that that’s when they will be ceasing production, and the product itself will still be available in stores until the existing stock runs out.

* Sometimes the information on the English version is outdated, but the notice is on both versions in this case.

(I don’t know for sure whether this is a total and complete discontinuation of any kind of product with similar characteristics, or whether it’s being reformulated or otherwise has some kind of successor that hasn’t been announced yet. I think it seems likely that it’ll be replaced by a successor with a different product name, but I could be wrong [ETA: it’s possible that the example I was going by was more of an exception]. More on this below.)

Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence (2019 formula)

This is specifically for the “Essence” version of the sunscreen that comes in a tube (as seen in the image above), NOT Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Gel, which comes in a bottle.

The information I have is also specifically for Japan, and I don’t know whether it will also apply for other countries. The product catalogue listing for what appears to be the equivalent sold in China, for instance, doesn’t say anything about it being discontinued, but it’s also manufactured by Kao Shanghai and is rated PA+++.

Bioré UV usually releases new products in February, with some exceptions in March–June, so it’s possible that there might be a successor that hasn’t been announced yet. If there is one, I’m guessing it’ll be more of a separate product with a different name rather than a reformulation of this product itself.* But hey, I could be wrong.

* I initially posted this as an image post, and someone said:

They're almost certainly discontinuing to release a new version. I believe they did that with the previous sunscreen of this line

My response:

Maybe! I’ve noticed that with other Kao products [ETA: recently, anyway; I haven’t been paying attention for that long], they don’t actually announce the old formulation as being discontinued (e.g., this recently reformulated cream from Curél isn’t listed on the Discontinued Products page), but if you’re right, maybe they have different practices for Bioré UV or something. (But I don’t think they did that for Bioré UV Perfect Milk or Bioré UV Mild Milk, either.) Or maybe they do that for major reformulations? I’ll be happy to be wrong for a lot of people’s sake!

And I decided to repost because it seems like this part needed to be emphasized more than the fact that I’m not talking about the Gel version, contrary to what I initially thought.

Edit again to put more emphasis on a couple of phrases. And again, I could be wrong, maybe it’ll just be a minor reformulation with the same product name and all. It’s possible that the Curél cream was an exception to the rule, but to give another example that I was thinking of, Atrix Beauty Charge: Unscented and Atrix Beauty Charge Night Superior were also reformulated as of September 4, 2021, and neither are on the Discontinued Products page for February–October 2021 or December 2020–July 2021, just a Rose & Berry version that was discontinued in September 2021 and is not in their current line-up. But again, they could be doing things differently for the Bioré UV brand.

I think I’m going to avoid posting about discontinued products until it’s clear what the company means by it from now on, although it’ll be harder to stock up on the old product by that point. In this case, I just happened to see the discontinuation notice when I was linking the product page for someone in the ADHT. I’m sorry if this post ends up being misleading!
