What is the most powerful weapon in SAO?

It doesn't matter which weapon you choose this time around, the biggest damage comes from Chain Bursts and Finish Arts.

If you really insist on having the best DPS weapon, it's probably the bow.

Signatures suck...

Ah I see so you can pretty much go with whichever weapon. That’s good to know. Any reason to go for one or the other when oh comes to great sword or katana?

I like the katana which has good attack boosting skills, the great sword feels a bit sluggish to me but Kirito just seems natural to use a one handed sword or dual wielding like he does in the anime. I think you even get his signature dual wield blades in this game as well like you did in Hollow Realization. As for the bow, ranged weapons in most games have a high potential of dishing out lots of damage depending on the game's mechanics but if you prefer katana or greatsword or any other weapons you can make the most of those as well because its your playstyle that matters the most. Just like in MMO's I prefer to either be a tank or DPS, go with what you enjoy and have fun with the game.

Greatsword emphasizes counters with a lot of its skills. Katana has a counter as their final skill though, which diminishes its use to some.
You get 1 greatsword npc and at least 2 katana ones, iirc.

The bow is insanely overpowered right now. Use the Thirst for Blood passive from greatsword, and Rule by the Strong from bow. Aim & Shoot is very broken. You can combine that with Mindbreak from attacker for free launches as well. None of this really matters though because this game is not very hard so just use what you like.

Unless you have high accuracy no matter how good that weapon is don't bother with Godly beast as they say lvl 80+ solo because unless you have more than 170+ accuracy you won't down them.

i wanna ask for the strongest weapon in this game. some of the weapon i think i already got it. like:

sword : holy sword excalibur
rapier : ????
dagger: dagger HG?
2 hand sword : object eraser
knuckle: ????
katana: ????
AXe: lang
mace: ????
Spear: divine leavateinn and elder's trident
bow: Fallnaught?

i made the list based on the price at agil's show, the question mark were the one i'm not sure or i'm sure i haven't got it. can someone fill the blank and where i could find them, pretty please :)

another question is i still couldn't see what goods in knuckle. cause the damage and the skill are pretty low. anybody good at using knuckle?

All the best weapons drop from Lost Song (the boss), but there are very rare versions of HG weapons that have stats even higher than those. For example the strongest 2H sword is Durandal, but I found a Juggernaut HG that had stats significantly higher than the highest Durandal so make of that what you will. Normal circumstances the best weapons are the Lost Song drops, namely:
1H Sword: Blazing Sword (1236-1421)
2H Sword: Durandal (1704-1921)
Katana: Demon Blade Muramasa (1425-1646)
Rapier: Glaring Light (1031-1223)
Dagger: Fragarach (942-1118)
Knuckle: Iron Fist Oguma (980-1148)
Axe: Lang (1809-2060)
Mace: Caduceus (1105-1294)
Spear: Brave Song (1337-1530)
Bow: Silvan Bow (884-1069)

Hildisvini and Gullinbursti drop the best shield:
Shield: Ancile (596)

And Knuckles suck, don't bother with them. Best weapon types for raw damage are: Dual Wield, Axe, Spear, Katana, 2H Sword, not necessarily in that order. Characters with the best battle skills for Massive Damage(TM) potential are Rain, Lisbeth, Strea, Agil, Klein.

since most weapons have effects on them and can get most of them via character skills and accessorie

what effects are good on weapons?

what level of element is good on a weapon 50-100 or 100+?

so far i've found weapons with only 1-2 element attributes on them and use a necklace for the 3rd since a ton of mobs have several weakness to them.

on that note we have a list of boss's weaknesses but nothing for the secret character [Black Lotus] since i want to farm her extra quest i need to know what she is weak to.
