This happens frequently in business relationships and the healthcare industry. Health care providers are required to publicly disclose certain information about a patient’s health and are not allowed to violate the patient’s privacy. Similarly, network security professionals must defend network systems against attacks from hackers who want to gain access to a company’s protected information. 

Both property rights and information rights can lead to significant moral dimensions.

One example is the difference between what it means to be a consumer and what it means to be a corporation. As the online generation grows up and begins to seek information on almost any topic under the sun, the importance of property rights becomes increasingly evident. Likewise, healthcare professionals such as doctors and nurses are required to protect patient privacy and provide information about medical treatment. Likewise, the massive amounts of personal data being transferred across different networks is creating new questions about the ownership and access to that data. These are just two examples of how people are interacting with one another across different networks and platforms that require different sets of ethical and moral standards.
