2023 Isuzu Trucks N-Series Diesel NPR-HDTHE BEST EVER Show Isuzu Motors Limited (IML) built its first low cab forwardtruck—predecessor to today’s N-Series—in 1959. Over the last60+ years, our parent company has followed a path of constantimprovement, redesigning, re-engineering, adding featuresfrom creature comforts to sophisticated technology, and alwayswith customer needs in mind. This quest for excellence has led tothe 2023 Isuzu N-Series line of dieseltrucks. See for yourself why theseare the safest, most comfortable, most capable N-Series trucks ever. See and Be Seen Every Isuzu N-Seriesdiesel truck features standard LEDheadlamps that use less energy, lastlonger, and generate less heat thanhalogen bulbs—in both low- and high-beam mode. Moreimportantly, they deliver more light, to provide drivers withbetter visibility at night while making the truck more easilyseen by onlookers and oncoming traffic. LED marker lights arealso available to give the roofline a bright glow. A matte silvergrille is now standard on all models. Build Up Your Confidence Rear disc brakes that run cooler andare more resistant to fading than drum brakes are now standardon every N-Series diesel truck. So are Electronic Stability Control(ESC) and Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR). ESC monitors the truck’ssteering wheel angle, individual wheel rotation speed, lateral G forces and more. When the system senses that the driver isat risk of losing control of the vehicle, it activates an on-dashwarning light and automatically reduces engine output andapplies braking pressure as needed to help the driver maintainthe truck’s stability. ESC works in tandem with ASR, an advancedtraction-control system that works to provide tire grip whenthe truck is on loose or wet surfaces. Features may include:
LED headlamps anddaytime running lightsimprove safety andstyling. With brighterillumination, drivershave better visibility innighttime conditionsand their trucks are more easily visible to pedestriansand oncoming traffic.
The interior is enhanced with a twotone gray interior trim, and the seatsare covered with a gray and blue crosspattern tricot fabric that improvesthe look and feel of the interior whilebeing durable for the daily grind.
Isuzu’s 5.2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder diesel engine (4HK) hasbeen an efficient and powerful engine in the N-Series for years. It produces 215 horsepower and 452 lb.-ft. of torque and ismated to an Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission.
The 30-gallon stainless steel fuel tank adds to the quality anddurability of the N-Series. The stainless steel fuel tank is rustresistant and includes both a fuel supply port and a fuel returnto easily connect equipment like refrigeration units.
A four-wheel disc brakingsystem enhances brakingperformance while improvingpedal feel. This braking systemutilizes a vacuum + powerassist feature and an anti-lockbraking system (ABS).

INDIANAPOLIS—Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, distributor of low cab forward trucks, announced start-of-production dates for the 2023 model-year editions of its popular N-Series gasoline- and diesel-powered N-Series trucks. The forum for the March 9 announcement was NTEA’s Work Truck Week 2022 in Indianapolis. Skinner, president of both Isuzu Commercial Truck of America and Isuzu Commercial Truck of Canada. “We believe the changes to these trucks for the new model year will make them even more popular with our customers.” N-Series GasolineIsuzu’s 2023 gasoline-powered N-Series Class 3 and 4 models receive many of the enhancements that were introduced on the 2022i N-Series diesel trucks:
Class 3 and Class 4 Isuzu N-Series trucks are powered by a direct-injected 6.6-liter V8 engine with variable valve timing that generates 350 horsepower and 425 lb.-ft. of torque. They are available in both standard cab and crew cab configurations, with gross vehicle weight ratings (GVWR) from 12,000 to 14,500 lb. and wheelbases ranging from 109 to 176 in. to accommodate bodies from 10 to 20 feet. Assembly of 2023 N-Series gas models will begin in April in Charlotte, Michigan. N-Series DieselIsuzu added a factory-installed advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) to the 2023 model that was introduced for the model-year 2022i N-Series Diesel. The optional package now includes adaptive cruise control (ACC), which takes cruise control a step further by allowing the driver to set both the desired speed and the desired following distance from the vehicle ahead. If the vehicle ahead slows down, the system will automatically slow the truck down as well, to maintain the pre-set following distance—and then accelerate to the originally set speed once the vehicle ahead speeds up or the lane is clear. ACC becomes the third feature in the Isuzu ADAS package, complementing the automatic emergency braking system (AEBS) and lane-departure warning system (LDWS) that were introduced for 2022i N-Series diesel models. Other enhancements from 2022i carry over to the 2023 N-Series diesel lineup:
Class 4 and 5 Isuzu N-Series diesel trucks are powered by Isuzu’s 5.2-liter 4HK1-TC turbocharged, intercooled four-cylinder diesel engine with four valves per cylinder and direct injection. This powerplant produces 215 horsepower and 452 lb.-ft. of torque with 50-state emission certification. They offer both standard cab and crew cab body styles, with GVWR from 14,500 lb. to 19,500 lb. and wheelbases ranging from 109 to 212 in. for bodies from 10 to 24 feet. Production of 2023 N-Series diesel models began in January at the Isuzu plant in Fujisawa, Japan. Both 2023 N-Series gasoline and diesel models will be available at Isuzu’s network of nearly 300 dealers in the U.S. and over 35 Isuzu Commercial Truck of Canada dealers.
